What a President's Wife Does for a Living

To all of you who follow the primary I wanted to talked a little about the President's wife.

It made the news yesterday when someone said Mrs. Romney never worked a day in her life. I stopped what I was doing to listen, and thought, this wonderful lady raised six children. SIX CHILDREN, and all of them seem to be doing great. Okay so you can come back at me with this thing about being handed everything in life, and I can come back at you with the fact - some children handed everything to them in life at spoiled brats for the rest of their lives. Some children are only brats - most children are beautiful.

So when it comes to the primary candidate's wife not working - in addition to being a mother she may have had help? I never caught on to any news about this - but think about that - when someone has a baby, lucky enough to have family and good friends nearby - they are offered help, they can ask for help if needed, and a good friend and family member usually will do all they can. I found out being a mother, my neighbors were helpful, always there if you needed them. I am sure having access to live in care would be a blessing to any mother - but it doesn't mean she does not work.

I found it difficult to hear these old stories about women not working if they are stay at home moms. I found it insulting and to say the least a low blow. In this day and age most people have to work, to afford the cost of living, and they too have people helping with the children. When she (Mrs. Romney) had her children women were not only accused of leaving the house, their children, and being a bad mother if the did work. I thought we changed all of that years ago.

As long as we are on the subject, I believed we changed many of the views being fought, brought up during this election, such as the woman's right to choose. Old hat, and why? I believe it is because the party complaining about social issues knows darn well they are the party who placed us in the disaster we are in today.

If you were running for President, would you bring up the fact that we had money left over before the tragic attack on 911 earmarked for seniors and medicare? No. Would you tell the people that the disaster in our country began when the disaster hit NYC? No. Would you blame it on a President who was left with a complete mess - a total disaster to figure out - and I mean OUT - in a limited time? Yes. The blame is always sent to those in office, no matter who he is.

In this case we have social issues popping up here and there. We have groups forming, when we have practically fought to break up gangs, cut the violence the best we could, and where do these political figures want to take the money to pay Joe - from education - and special teachers needed by a large majority of students to get them onto the right road. Without a solid foundation, (BTW - a mother at home can provide a solid foundation for her children, devoting time to projects and bonding, explaining what writing or reading is - because I have done this time and time again, and it has been a proven success in their school years.) So don't let your State continue to cut the budget, remove those we need in school to better the student and their future.

Back to Mrs. Romney who I believe, along with our First Lady, to be excellent mothers, provide the love to their children, (even the word love was once hard to say in many generations) but these women are not spending precious time with their own family to better themselves, but to better their children.

All in all, the people can see through plastic covers - not many Americans or those living in well educated foreign countries can be fooled by political talk. What we need in America, and in our own city and town is an honest government, a wife who is strong enough to take the ups and downs of the job of being a wife to a President, and a private agenda, one which will not only help her but the world, per say.

So, in my mind - the statement was uncalled for - bringing up old trash. Too much of the old trash is being flung at the other side. Let's get down to business and talk about living, eating, doctoring, having employment, good medical care, to provide a life to your family, one you can be proud of.

Sincerely, Nancy
